I oversee all of the projects in the engineering department, provide work assignments and review performance of staff. I also serve as technical advisor, write proposals, research and collect outstanding fees due from clients. I meet with County staff and clients to discuss projects, in addition to continuing to design stormsewer, stormwater management facilities, roads, sanitary sewer, water, grading, etc. Finally, I keep current on engineering trends.
How long have you worked with Bowman Consulting and how have your responsibilities increased?
I started with Bowman Consulting right out of college. I began as an Engineer III. I worked directly under a Project Manager and focused all of my time on design. At about six months I began interacting heavily with clients and county staff, still under the direction of a PM.
At one year I began managing individual projects from beginning to end with a PM providing guidance.
At year 3, I was promoted to Project Manager and began billing, collections, and pricing work. I also had two engineers working for me and two CADD drafters.
At year 5, I was promoted to Senior Project Manager.
At year 6, I was promoted to Director of Engineering of the Fredericksburg office. I oversee three engineering teams and a planning department of 1.

What types of activities, associations or memberships have you had that contribute to your career?
I am on the Stormwater Management Code/Design review Committee for Stafford County
I am working on assisting Stafford County with their Traditional Neighborhood Design Guidelines
I participate in functions with Stafford Council for Progress (review new county codes and provide comments for discussion)
I am currently an inactive Designated Plans Examiner in Fairfax County
I attended the Pathway to Principal Seminar
I am attending the 2007 LID National Conference
Looking back to your college years, what types of internships or jobs did you have that have helped your career path?
I interned with Stafford County Utilities from the summer of my freshman year until Christmas of my senior year.
Will you be sitting for your PE exam in the coming future?
Actually, I passed the PE Exam in Virginia in 2004.
